Lesson D - The EU In Our Daily Lives

In Lesson D - The EU in Our Daily Lives, students participated in a dynamic and interactive workshop designed to connect broad political concepts directly to their everyday experiences. The session kicked off with an engaging educational game structured around our official learning guidelines, where students were challenged to answer thought-provoking questions about how European policies impact them personally. By turning complex legislative topics into a collaborative activity, the workshop fostered lively discussions and allowed participants to actively discover the tangible benefits of living within the European Union.

The second part of the lesson featured a comprehensive presentation that highlighted concrete examples of EU legislation in action across two main areas: consumer protection and the environment. Students learned how the EU guarantees rights such as no roaming charges across Member States, mandatory two-year warranties on electronic devices, strict CE product safety standards, and transparent food labelling. The presentation also underscored environmental milestones, including the ban on single-use plastics, the mandate for a common USB-C charger to reduce electronic waste, and the target of reaching at least 42.5% renewable energy by 2030. The outcome of this lesson gave students a clear, practical understanding of how EU decisions actively shape, improve, and protect their daily lives.
