Lesson I - All About: The Environment
In Lesson I - All About The Environment, students participated in an interactive workshop centred around the European Green Deal. Working in small groups, participants took on the role of digital journalists tasked with planning and producing a 60-90 second video news bulletin. To build their reports, students used their smartphones to research, shoot, and edit content on specific environmental policy areas, such as "From Farm to Fork," Clean Energy, Sustainable Industry, and Eliminating Pollution. The groups were challenged to connect these EU-wide sustainability targets to local impacts, turning complex environmental legislation into highly engaging and accessible media broadcasts.
The second part of the lesson transitioned to a presentation and plenary session in which students showcased their final video bulletins to the class. Through a guided discussion, each group reflected on what they learned about international collaboration and how standardized regulations create better environmental standards for all. The primary outcome of this lesson was a concrete understanding of the EU's environmental aims, policies, and the tangible benefits of cross-border action. Students walked away inspired to take action, with a deeper appreciation for the vital role their generation plays in supporting sustainability programmes and creating a greener future.
