Lesson K - EU Enlargement Workshop

In Lesson K - EU Enlargement Workshop, students participated in an interactive session centred around understanding the 9-step process of joining the European Union. Working in groups, participants were handed envelopes containing sets of mixed-up "EU Enlargement Cards". To complete the main challenge, students had to work together, share their thoughts, and attempt to arrange the cards in the correct chronological order for a country to join the EU. This hands-on task turned a theoretical political process into a highly engaging and collaborative puzzle.

The second part of the lesson transitioned into a review and discussion session in which groups evaluated the correct order of the enlargement steps together. Applying their new knowledge to real-world scenarios, students examined the current enlargement journeys of Ukraine, the Republic of Moldova, and Georgia. The highlight of the session was a dedicated discussion featuring Young European Ambassadors (YEAs), who shared their own thoughts and experiences on what EU Enlargement means to them. The primary outcome of this lesson was a concrete understanding of the enlargement steps. Students walked away with a deeper appreciation of the process, finding the topic much more personal and relatable after hearing firsthand how these policies impact real citizens.
